Hilary Sullivan (she/her)
Director, Community Service & Civic Engagement
Hilary has been a part of the team since 2012. She oversees the suite of programs run by CSCE as well as represents CSCE within Education Innovation, the Northeastern network, and in the community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in nonprofit management. Hilary is passionate about developing the civic knowledge and skills young people need to be effective changemakers in the world. Hilary engages in her neighborhood of Roslindale by shopping locally and serving on several community boards.
Cristine Roque (she/her)
Director, Massachusetts Promise Fellowship
Christine joined the team in July 2021. In her role, she oversees the budget, partnerships, and operations of the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship, a statewide AmeriCorps program focused on supporting youth in academic engagement. She graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Masters in Higher Education at Northeastern. Christine has 13+ years of program experience working with youth serving organizations aimed at addressing equity in education. She engages in her community by being a proud BPS parent and mentoring two current Yawkey Scholars at Boston University.
Lisa Morde (she/her)
Associate Director, Civic Engagement
Lisa supports civic learning across Community Service and Civic Engagement (CSCE), oversees the Alliance of Civically Engaged Students (ACES), and co-leads the Northeastern Votes Coalition (NU Votes). She has an M.Ed. in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts, at Amherst. She is passionate about exploring systemic injustice that leads to the creation of volunteer organizations, and civic action that leads to social change and justice. She has organized service experiences from Cleveland to Boston, Washington DC to the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador; and led her local Medical Reserve Corps when the Covid-19 vaccine became available. Lisa contributes to her community by voting locally and prioritizing a car-free commute and meat-free diet.
Mona Miao (she/her)
Program Manager, Massachusetts Promise Fellowship
Mona joined the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship as a Program Manager in December 2023 and oversees recruitment, data and evaluation. A MA-licensed educator who is passionate about educational equity, youth development and engaged leadership, Mona has over 8 years of diverse experiences with non-profits, youth organizations, higher education, and schools, including teaching 8th grade science and directing summer youth programs in the Cambridge & Greater Boston area. Mona earned her B.A. in psychology and M.Ed. in teaching from Harvard University. Outside of work, Mona enjoys cooking, board games, staying active, and spending lots of time with friends, family and pets.
Olivia Harris (she/her)
Program Manager, Massachusetts Promise Fellowship
Olivia leads fellow professional development training, alumni relations efforts, and fundraising initiatives. Olivia received her BS in Human Services & Political Science from Northeastern University. She is currently working towards a master’s in Learning Experience Design and Technology. She engages with her community by supporting her local Jamaica Plain businesses and contributing to programming and advocacy efforts at Transition House, a Cambridge-based domestic violence agency.
Nancy Figueroa (she/her/ella)
Assistant Director, Community Partnerships and Impact
Nancy received an M.A. in Leadership focusing on communication from Northeastern University. Nancy has been part of the Northeastern University community since 2009. She has a passion for community work and started her career as a youth volunteer in a non-profit organization, Roca, which worked to build youth-adult relationships and work collaboratively with community stakeholders to address community needs. Nancy volunteers at Everett Community Growers helping Everett Residents address food insecurities.
Erin Curley (she/her, they/them)
Assistant Director, Community Service
Erin supervises the Community Volunteer Programs and Alternative Breaks Trips. She has earned bachelor’s degrees in social work and economics from Simmons University. She holds a master’s in social work from Salem State University, with a specialization in Integrated and Behavioral Health. Erin is passionate about supporting volunteers and encourages students to talk to her about self-care practices. Erin works directly with several student employees, program leaders, and Co-ops. Erin engages with her community by supporting mutual aid organizing, including the maintenance of a community fridge and pantry for her neighbors in Brighton.
T’Shana Samuel (she/her/hers)
Jumpstart Site Manager
T’shana joined Community Service and Civic Engagement in August 2023 and oversees all components of the Jumpstart program. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a M.S. in Anthropology and minor in International and Global Studies. T’shana has 6 years of experience working with a variety of AmeriCorps programs and non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. She is very passionate about supporting underrepresented and under resourced communities, specifically in the areas of education and health equity. In her free time T’shana likes to unwind by watching Netflix, hanging out with friends, and trying new restaurants around Boston.
