Set Up a Community Walk

The CSCE team leads community walks of the local neighborhoods adjacent to the Boston campus: Fenway, Mission Hill, Roxbury and the South End. These walks typically last 1-1.5 hours and are best with groups of 5-15 participants. To schedule a community walk, please contact communityservice@northeastern.edu  or fill out the form below.

The benefits of participating in a community walk are:

  • Explore one of the neighborhoods adjacent to Northeastern’s Boston campus
  • Learn about the community through an asset-based lens
  • Identify ways to engage the community in a meaningful way
  • Learn about small businesses to support the local economy

24-25 Academic Year: Program Fee $250

In the past year, we have received an unprecedented number of requests for walks. To meet the demand, our office has started paying students to lead these walks as a way to increase the number of trained walk leaders. We also hired a student worker this past school year to revise the walks, and each year we hire a community member to train and prepare our student walk leaders. In order to sustain this project, we are moving to a model of asking for a $250 flat fee from any staff office or staff/faculty group that requests a walk. Given that this initiative has grown organically, and our office does not have operational funding for it, this fee can help us continue to revise our walks and hire & train our student workers. If the cost is prohibitive, please contact Hilary Sullivan at h.sullivan@northeastern.edu
